This page covers allied health, wellbeing and fitness services. It is not a substitute for medical advice. Public service availability, referrals and clinic hours change, so use the official health directory and practitioner registers for current information.

What this directory covers

  • Allied health: physiotherapy, psychology, podiatry, occupational therapy and other regulated professions.
  • Fitness facilities: gyms, pools, group classes and council recreation centres.
  • Community health: public and community programmes, some requiring referral or eligibility.
  • Mental health support: routine, urgent and crisis pathways chosen according to immediate need.
  • Accessible activity: programmes that state access, supervision and suitability clearly.

Where to look across the region

The main service centres are Burnie, Devonport, Ulverstone, Wynyard, Penguin, Latrobe and Smithton. Burnie and Devonport generally offer the widest range. Ulverstone and Wynyard serve the central and western coast, while Smithton is the practical centre for Circular Head. Some providers travel between towns, but travel fees, call-out areas and appointment days should be confirmed before booking.

For council-managed services, permits and facilities, identify the municipality responsible for the address. Town names and postal areas do not always match council boundaries.

Choose and verify a provider

Check a regulated practitioner on the Ahpra register and ask about referral needs, costs, rebates and accessibility. A fitness qualification is not the same as registration as a health practitioner. Call 000 for a life-threatening emergency.

Keep the details current

Search results can retain former trading names, addresses and phone numbers long after they change. Use the official registers and service directories in the sources below, then confirm the provider’s current details directly. For paid work, agree on scope, price, timing and important exclusions in writing and keep the receipt.

This page is an independent public-interest guide. It does not rank businesses, accept paid placement or certify that a provider is suitable for a particular job. For other categories, use the North West Tasmania directory hub and the North West and West Coast guide.
