The stairs, platform and how long it takes
The purpose built lower platform is reached via 115 steps. Parks information lists the lower walk as Grade 3 and gives about 15 minutes return as an estimate; that timing is indicative and noted as subject to confirmation. Grade 3 means some bushwalking experience is recommended. Expect short steep sections, a rough surface and many steps.
The viewing platform at the cave entrance is the designated safe place to view the formation. Do not leave the platform to enter the cave, scramble onto the beach or move into the surge zone. Waves can surge through the opening and sea conditions can alter quickly.
Changing sea and weather conditions
Remarkable Cave is a wave cut tunnel created by ongoing coastal erosion. The appearance of the tunnel and the force of waves through it change with the tide, swell and weather. Sea spray can make the stairway slippery and you may get wet on the platform at times. Check the weather and sea forecast before you travel and be prepared to turn back if conditions are rough.

Tracks from the Remarkable Cave car park head to Maignon Blowhole, Mount Brown and Crescent Bay. These are separate outings that require greater time, water and preparation. Do not set off on longer tracks simply because the cave visit felt easy. Each route has its own grade and equipment needs.
If you plan a longer walk, review track grading and current alerts and carry extra food, water and appropriate clothing. Some tracks on the peninsula are remote enough to require navigation skills and a higher level of self sufficiency.
Practical conduct on site
The lower platform is the safe viewing point. Stay behind barriers and follow signage. The cliffs are steep and sandstone can be undercut by wave action. Avoid any urge to go closer to the water or to climb on loose rock. The site is designed for short visits and photography from the platform and the lookout.
If you are photographing marine life or birds, maintain a respectful distance so nesting or hauling animals are not disturbed. The area supports a range of seabirds and marine mammals that can be seen from shore, season permitting.
