Copping is a small rural locality on the Arthur Highway between Sorell and Dunalley. Its hall, oval and scattered properties serve the local community rather than forming a conventional visitor centre.
A working community place
Copping Hall has meeting, recreation and event facilities managed through Sorell Council. A building visible from the highway is not necessarily open, so check an advertised event or booking before expecting access.
Pause safely
Use formed parking and keep driveways, the fire station and community access clear. The highway carries local traffic, freight and visitors heading to the Tasman Peninsula. Do not stop on narrow shoulders for photographs.
Wielangta is a separate forest journey
The Wielangta Forest route begins near Copping and runs towards the east coast. Conditions and access can change after rain, forestry operations or maintenance. Check current road information and carry an offline map before treating it as an alternative through-route.
Dunalley is the next service town towards the peninsula. For a longer route, the Sorell to Orford drive follows a different east-coast direction.
