Launceston Airport is at Western Junction, about 15 kilometres south of central Launceston. It is the main air gateway for northern Tasmania, with direct routes and schedules changing by season and airline.

Driving into Launceston is straightforward, though fog, frost and roadworks can affect the airport approaches. Avoid committing a tired arriving driver to a long night trip to Cradle Mountain or the East Coast.
