Koonya is a small rural settlement on the western side of the Tasman Peninsula. Farms and private homes occupy a landscape also associated with the Cascades probation station.
Probation-era remains
The Cascades station was part of the peninsula’s wider convict system. Surviving buildings and archaeological ground have had later uses, and heritage significance does not imply public access.
A living rural district
Koonya has few visitor services. Use public roads, respect gates and do not enter farm or heritage property without explicit permission.
