Queens Domain rises immediately north of central Hobart. Its more than 230 hectares contain native grassland and woodland, sports grounds, the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens, Soldiers Memorial Avenue and traces of the former Beaumaris Zoo.
Choose a formed circuit
The City to Gardens Circuit links the Bridge of Remembrance and botanical gardens on an easy 2.4-kilometre loop. Maxs Infinity Loop provides an accessible surfaced circuit, while the Cornelian Bay coastal walk is longer and moderately graded.
Grassland is part of the heritage
The Domain’s lowland native grasslands contain rare and threatened plants and reflect long Aboriginal association with the area. Stay on paths where signed and do not pick plants or drive on grassland.
Memorials, play and sport
Soldiers Memorial Avenue passes through the reserve, while Legacy Park has play and picnic facilities. Sports grounds and dog rules vary by area and event, so use current signs.
The Domain is walkable from the centre, with parking at several signed locations. Roads through the hill carry local traffic and cyclists, so cross at clear points and do not assume every track is vehicle-free.
