The Meander Valley Highway provides a slower alternative to the Bass Highway between Launceston’s western edge and Deloraine. It links towns and farms rather than functioning as a scenic attraction by itself.
Build the route around towns
Hadspen, Carrick and Westbury each reward a short stop. Deloraine provides the broadest services and a river walk at the western end.
Share a working road
Farm vehicles, school traffic and local driveways require patience. Follow current speed limits and never stop on narrow verges for photographs.
Allow half a day
Two towns, a meal and a short walk make a useful route. Add mountain or waterfall trips only with separate weather and road checks.
Read the Meander Valley guide, then choose Carrick, Westbury or Deloraine.
