Doo Town is a small shack settlement at the southern edge of Pirates Bay, reached from Eaglehawk Neck. Its best-known feature is a local naming tradition in which houses carry signs built around the word “Doo”.
A neighbourhood, not an attraction set
The signs are visible from public roads, but the homes, gardens, jetties and driveways remain private. Drive slowly, park only where permitted and avoid photographing residents at close range.
Add the coast, not just the signs
The road continues towards the Blowhole and walking links around the Tasman coast. Conditions at exposed rock edges change with swell, wind and spray. Stay behind barriers and supervise children.
Plan a short detour
Traffic and parking can build at popular coastal stops. If spaces are full, continue and return later rather than blocking the narrow road. There are limited services within the settlement itself.
