Evercreech Regional Reserve protects tall forest near the headwaters of the South Esk River. The white gums known as the White Knights made the reserve famous, while a separate track reaches Evercreech Falls.
The White Knights track is closed in 2026
Parks Tasmania reports that tree falls and track damage have closed the White Knights walk until further notice. The reserve and Falls track remain open. Do not pass closure barriers or rely on an older guide that describes the tall-tree circuit as available.
The closure matters because storm-damaged trees and limbs can fall without warning. Avoid all forest walking in strong winds or stormy weather.
Use the open Falls track and facilities carefully
The reserve has parking, toilets, picnic facilities, barbecues and a shelter. Dogs are permitted on lead under the current reserve listing. The Falls walk follows forest and river country, where wet roots and rock need suitable shoes.
Access from Fingal or Ringarooma includes unsealed roads. Check conditions after heavy rain, carry supplies and avoid driving at night.
